For this report of the Human Resource Management, I would like to discuss about the topic: “Assess the relevance of motivation theory in a contemporary workplace setting that you are familiar with, paying particular attention to the likely pitfalls that managers should avoid.”
In most HRM practice, as like a manager, who should to know how to motivate workers to get high-performance work approach, and create the workplaces in which the high-performance approach to make atmosphere likely to have the more formal, analytical type of job evaluation. Furthermore, the example which I given now will clearly explain advantages of this theory, because this is one of the most popular observation on what motivates people, using by managers. For example, nowadays, in many developed and developing countries, the percentage of people who are out of work and insecure still high. Even many policies applied to bring many works for customers, getting a job may drive everything people want, so they not caring the hierarchy of five basic types, and during the period of high unemployment, behavior changes, value of employees decreased. Therefore, managers usually envision Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a stepladder or pyramid, to degree required of work for short time,, and using five basic types to motivated them to exert level of effort will lead to performance. Also, managers can accomplish this, such as, help them during training to create easy plans, encourage them to believe in getting successful performance will lead to getting the reward. On the other hands, employees now do not realize that a strong connection between working, doing, performance, and get income, pay bills. Professional employees are those whose work involves the application and the way of learned knowledge to have solution of the worker’s performance working. These people might not remember everything they learn about training program, information of career, but, by step by step, if necessary, they will bring best idea to make useful contributions and evaluating them as possible to done the job. Moreover, the new employees may also come with a more realistic and motivation to worked in close partnership with other co-workers to build common understanding and strengthen to find a key success for any project or work of company. Managers need to make incentive planning because employers are more motivated when they feel needed, valued, after discuss with the boss. The important thing is that this plan can helps the employers to understand their skills, knowledge, and experience, needed to achieve the company’s strategic goals. So, for performing current employers and managers, together to work out, so managers cannot miss an opportunity to support them career development.
