I believe in the proverb “Health is wealth”. There is nothing in our life more important than good health and without health there is no happiness, peace and success. In recent times there has been much advancement in the field of medicine in terms of technology, infrastructure and research facilities and even though scientists have succeeded in discovering medicines for many diseases spending millions, new diseases have been emerging threatening mankind. Many diseases can be prevented by following simple measures. Therefore, I personally believe “Prevention is better than cure”. Like many diseases can be prevented by following simple hygiene procedures like washing hands and also by maintaining clean surroundings. Since time immemorial man has achieved wonderful things in various fields like technology, space research but medicine proves to be most challenging of all, with new strains of organisms emerging at a threatening rate. So I chose biology as my major in junior college to pursue medicine. I achieved 93% in my junior college and scored 134 of 160 marks in EAMCET (Engineering and medical common entrance test) securing 2348 rank among 100,000 students who appeared for the test. What sparked my interest in dentistry was a visit to dental clinic, as I accompanied my cousin for a dental surgery due to extensive fracture of jaw and teeth. I was really amazed and interested in the work undertaken by the dental surgeon. I was also excited because dentistry was different from medicine as it had the additional aspect of intricate manual & dexterity work, something which I want to feature of my everyday job. So I chose to pursue dentistry in Government dental college and hospital; Kadapa affiliated to Dr. N. T. R. University of health
