Kellie- It is my understanding that 58 students are registered for AP Literature next year and will be placed in only two sections. This is highly concerning as it is not what is best for our brightest students, especially those who have so much at stake (scores, scholarships, etc.). Placing this many students per class will not only make it virtually impossible to conduct writing conferences, an integral part of the course, but will also drastically reduce the amount of individualized attention and could possibly ultimately lower scores on the AP Exam for individual students and our campus alike. Understanding it is necessary to maximize class size, a class of almost 30 students who are reading and writing on a daily basis is not conducive

First day of sophomore year, looking through the syllabus of AP World History, I began to seriously question why I had chosen to take such a rigorous course on a subject I didn’t even enjoy. History was always boring to me because every year before tenth grade I had been stuck with a teacher who presented facts, names, and dates in a monotone fashion that presented to me a very dull view of what history as a subject really was. It was in AP World where I had the privaledge of having a teacher who was passionate on what she taught, and a course that gave an intensely more detailed view of history. It was no longer a set of mindless facts, but the story of mankind and why the world is the way it is. It also came to my attention how little control
Unlike Martin Luther, there are more than 95 thesis’ on my improvement due to AP World History. In World History class, I not only managed to learn about the Ways of the World, (by Robert W. Strayer) I was additionally able to obtain valuable skills such as time management, cleaver studying, and overall independence. As a Freshman, I was skeptical of taking AP World History; I was aware of the fast-pace and rigor, something I had not experienced before. AP World History is definitely not an easy class, but it is an experience, a journey in which I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to take.
Some students with sports and after school activities may feel intimidated to take the class because of the workload but with strong time management the workload can be completed. For example I myself am a two sport athlete and I was able to manage my time and complete the workload for AP World
AP Music Theory was taught by one of my favorite teachers. I’ve had him for three years, and he always pushes students every year to sign up for the class. Even if it didn’t fit into your schedule, he just needed enough people to show interest in the class. In other words, fifty people could sign up for the class, but if only five people end up fitting it in their schedule, it’d still be considered a class for that year.
In high school, I took AP Literature and I feel as though it prepared me very well. My teacher helped me to develop my writing into something I could be proud of. In high school, we were required to use notable sources that were academically worthy. For example, everyone used Galileo to find credible sources for their specific topic. In my English classes, we read and analyzed notorious novels and short stories.
I depict my ideal future in the Peterson Self Authoring Project that run as follows: I want to be someone who will be imitate at least by some persons in their life time as an exemplified person. I'm a very ordinary person who never compromise with dishonesty, never be late in working place except rare occasions, and never be avoid any assigned tasks, never be biased to anyone, and never be directed by any personal liking or disliking while making an assessment. It's my pleasure if some of these qualities will transform into those persons who have a close contacts with me especially in working places. I want to do the same thing as I have already do.
I met with my AP Literature teacher, Mrs. Rutigliano at Mayfield High School. She teaches both 10th and 12th grade English along with being an academic coach for grades 9-12. I have been surrounded by English teachers my entire life because my mom is an English teacher as well. It has always been a career I have considered because of my love for the English language and children. I look up to Mrs. Rutigliano and her love for teaching English which is why I interviewed her.
Journal #1. Page 19- “Since beer was a gift from the gods, it was also the logical thing to present as a religious offering.” Response - Beer was used in ceremonies such as religious, agricultural, funerals, etc. The religious meaning of beer has a longer timeline than the Sumerians and the Egyptians.
Some people say that high schools should not be allowed to teach AP classes. Some people think this because students are taking advantage of the weighted credit. They also argue high school teachers are not capable of teaching a college level course. Finally, they argue that AP courses reduce the opportunity of the exploration in college. The first argument they give is AP classes give a weighted credit to a student, even if the student did not take the AP exam (Honawar 2).
Tawney Nodland – As I look back over the past semester of English Composition, I realize that I have grown as a writer. Not onlyhas my understanding of the writing process changed, my whole attitude towards composition has too. This composition course has made a significant impact on my learning experience and has given me tools to take forward into my future educational and professional goals. Throughout this course, I have discovered things about myself as a writer and know some of my strengths and weaknesses. I now feel more prepared for future writing assignments, whether for work or for school.
My junior year I took on the challenge by taking Language and Composition then also taking United States History. That gave me the confidence to double my load with adding on 2 more AP classes to my schedule which is a challenge but I think there’s much worse than four AP classes. As you go you learn that if you set your mind on doing a certain thing anything is possible to overcome.
In chapter 1 of the APA Manual, the focus was to point out types of articles, ethical and legal standards in publishing, accuracy of scientific knowledge, protecting the rights and welfare of research participants, and protecting intellectual property rights (American Psychological Association, 2017). These sections are intended to help publishers ensure that their research is posted properly. The APA states, “research is complete only when the results are shared with a scientific community” (American Psychological Association, 2017). This means that to share with a community, you must follow the APA guidelines for doing so. When reviewing chapter 1 of the APA Manual, I found it to be very helpful with continuing research.
In preparation for AP Language and Composition, I (and the rest of the class) was asked to write an essay to re-introduce myself as a reader, writer, and a thinker/learner to my peers. Quite frankly, I believe this is the first time I’ve done any of these things all summer. While I’ve done few, if any, of these tasks all summer till now, I’m going to try and reflect on times I did and see what I was like/who I was while performing them. While I barely read and usually only do when I have to, there are certain subjects and themes in books which make me interested in them compared to other books/novels. For example, I know this is a very stereotypical answer but my favorite books of all time are all the books in the Harry Potter series.
Homework is eating students alive! Too much homework is causing numerous issues within undergraduates in today 's society. Students stress levels are through the roof, social lives are diminishing, grades are slipping and their physical health is in jeopardy. Teachers appoint hours of work at night, which most kids do not have the time to accomplish, especially when they want to have a gregarious life outside of school. The issues declared have a common source which emphasizes that teenagers are receiving a colossal amount of homework and it needs to change.
