Over the past years, teacher quality has become one of the most widely discussed issue in education. Teaching is one of the most important and difficult career that shapes not only the students future but also the society.
This review explores the definition of quality teaching. Teacher quality is the most Important feature of the school that boosts students achievement. Students who have quality teachers learns more than students who don’t have. Quality in teaching has become stimulating in international discussion (kennedy , 2008). Everyone needs quality teaching. The reasons are that we need to know why some teachers are better than others. What are the capabilities that should be on the teacher to be able to raise students achievement.

As Charlotte Danielson pointed out in her seminal work, Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching, Research has clearly demonstrated that the effects of reflection improve teaching. The feedback strategy used for this lesson will be “Tweets about today’s lesson” where the students will “tweet” about the lesson and can answer either what they learnt from the lesson, what they did not know or what questions they might have. (Presto Plans, n.d.) The feedback strategy can inform the student on how students understand and where they can learn more.
Teacher attrition in PGCPS is just below the national average for urban school districts. The Maryland Teacher Staffing Report (2012) produced by the Maryland State Department of Education shows that between October, 2010 and October, 2011, PGCPS had a 13.3% teacher attrition rate compared to 4.5% in Montgomery County, and 5.9% in Anne Arundel County. Kent County had the lowest teacher attrition rate of all Maryland districts at 2.3%. Only Baltimore City Public Schools had a comparable rate of teacher attrition as PGCPS at 12.2 percent see Table 1.

1. Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher. Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Outstanding teachers possess a multitude of qualities making them unique and unforgettable to the children they serve. I believe that outstanding teachers are passionate, inspired, creative, compassionate, patient and understanding.
An effective teacher is likely to switch and mix new approaches to suit the objectives of the unit of work or lesson. As objectives vary within a lesson, the effective teacher will move between different teaching approaches or methods. The teacher begins by deciding what he or she wishes to achieve and then chooses the most appropriate method of realizing those objectives. By injecting pedagogical approach to teaching, students can have a better chance and can engage to physical education and sports.
Not only children learn from teachers, teachers also need to learn from children. A successful teacher is willing to learn. 2.2 Teacher resilience A good number of studies has shown that facing various challenges for teachers in different years of their teaching is inevitable. This issue become important when teaches lack the ability of managing these difficulties which may result in burnout and attrition. To be on the positive side, equipping teachers with qualities that prevent them from frustration and make them to thrive than just survive was an ongoing concern for teacher educators and policy makers. Resilience, as a specific strategy that individuals usually apply when they face a kind of adverse situation (Castro, et al., 2010), has been attracted a lot of attention among researchers.
Literature Review “Children know how to learn in more ways than we know how to teach them.” —Ronald Edmonds (1991) Each child learns in a different way, therefore if teachers are mainly focused on instructing the majority auditory/visual learners; the students who have different learning styles needs aren’t being met, which results in lack of basic skills moving forward. The idea of one instructional strategy fitting all is creating a void in classrooms; which in turn is failing to help those students struggling the most. Campbell, Helf, and Cooke, (2008) suggests a reason for some students’ ongoing lack of achievements that, “too often, students are instructed indirectly, watching and listening to the teacher or other students with little or no opportunity to actually read” (p. 268).

Description Reflection is a necessary component in learning to regulate opinion, feelings, and actions. Reflection links experience and knowledge by providing an opportunity to explore areas of concern in a critical way and to make adjustments based on these reflections (Knowles Z., Tyler G., 2006). I will be using the Gibbs G (1988) Learning by Doing: A guide to teaching and learning methods (Davies S., 2012).
It is essential to become ‘reflective practitioners’ as this will help to identify and affirm values and beliefs. Resources: A teacher needs to be resourceful. It is essential for teachers to be able to devise his/her own resources to make teaching and learning an engaging process and to prevent monotony from setting in.
An outstanding teacher is made up of 5 main things. They are respectful and in turn respected, goal-driven, have strong classroom management, have an inner drive to learn more and teach better, and have a love for each and every student. Each and every day a teacher must show the students they teach respect. If a student respects you, they will work just that bit hard for you. It makes a difference.
Student Engagement A good teacher should know how to engage students in learning activities and be able to respond to diverse students needs in the classroom. The classroom observations I have seen these past week has shown me examples of good teachers. In all the classes I observed the students sat quietly and were always ready to raise their hands and answer questions. In my kindergarten class all the students were really into their assignments and wanted approval of their work from their teacher.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
But, among all the above factors, the teacher has the most important role for efficient and quality learning. Markley (2011) stated that Good and qualified teachers are essential for efficient functioning of educational systems and for enhancing the quality of learning. A good teacher and actions to be taken on his part in the classroom play a vital role in provoking effective and efficient learning on the part of the students. Parents trust their children to be taught and educated at school, to be hoped that they will become good and qualified human beings. A teacher takes an important role in motivating the students to get their success in their life.
