During your academic year what did you do extra to be considered a strong applicant?
When I contemplate why I want to pursue a career in the medical field, I picture my high school allied health class where my enthusiasm for the field first started and I became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been around hospitals and doctor’s growing up, but that class opened my eyes to a new world. To learn extensive amounts about the healthcare field and have the opportunity to gain clinical experience has no comparison, to be able to learn hands on at that age, and know that I wanted to care for patients. To see all those elderly residents, to experience helping them and showing them compassion, it made my day, every day I was there. The fact that I can do two things I love, learning new things and helping people get better excites
I have always, like my dad, wanted to major in something in the medical field. Another reason why I want to become a nurse practitioner is that I have always had a passion about helping others. With this job I can communicate with the patients in their times of intense physical and mental sufferings. For example, If my patients are scared of getting a surgery, I could educate them that surgery is not always a bad choice. I would explain the procedure of the operation in a way that they could fully comprehend. In doing this, I can ease of their fear. It is immensely important to be able to translate the potentially frightening experience of surgery into the vastly beneficial procedure it is. Therefore, I think that pursuing such a career will provide me the opportunity to help patients fight their
When trying to decide on a career path, a veterinary technician is a good choice for those who enjoy working with animals. It allows people to pursue their passion and also earn a comfortable living. The job of a veterinarian technician is much like the job of a nurse to a doctor. A veterinarian technician assists veterinarians with duties such as surgery and carrying out the orders they have prescribed. There are many areas available to a veterinarian technician such as working in research laboratories, zoo research as well as in wildlife. Additionally, veterinary technicians could work in laboratories or performing x-rays (GlobalPost, 2016).
Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult. Now that I have my mind set on my aspirations, I hope to practice the qualities needed to be a triumphant dentist and dental surgeon. Of course everyone wants success, wealth, and happiness in the future. My long term goal is to pursue a career in the field of dentistry and earn my DDS (doctorate in dental surgery)
I have worked with medical students who come from the UA COM-P culture and I believe they bring a great amount of cultural awareness to their role on the healthcare team. The focus of early clinical exposure at UA COM-P makes a significant difference in learning how to care for people. The UA COM-P emphasis on cultural diversity allows for more learning opportunities and fully encompasses what it means to take care of the patient and not just treat a disease. I entered the medical field wanting to be at the bedside helping people. I think this gives me a unique view, and ability to help contribute to UA COM-P diversity centered training and culture. Being at the bedside for 40 plus hours a week for almost 4 years I've learned that all
Working in different settings and meeting new people that need to be taken care of has always interested me. The job I want to have while I go to college is the very challenging role of a Medical Assistant. Due to the experiences that have happened in my life, I believe that becoming a medical assistant is the best career choice for me.
I believe that I would greatly enjoy being a NICU registered nurse. I would like to peruse this career because I love anything that has to do with the medical field. I have the nursing classes in high school so I have a jump-start in this career. The medical field is so interesting I love learning about the human body an all its functions. As I end my senior year I will be certified in Phlebotomy and be a certified Medical Assistant. I would like to excel in my education and peruse my dream of being a NICU Registered Nurse. The reason that I have chosen to want to work in the NICU is because I love working with babies and helping them and help their families. Even though there will be some babies that will sadly die if I can help at least
I have always found happiness in helping others ever since I was a little girl. Helping other people when they truly need it the most is one of the most satisfying accomplishments. Again, ever since I was a child, I've always wanted to be a nurse; however, it wasn't until a year or two ago that I discovered information about certified registered nurse anesthesists. Since that discovery, I have been extremely interested with nurse anesthesists. Nurse anesthesists are responisible for keeping their patient pain-free and alive while they are in their care. I think I would do really well as a certified registered nurse anesthesist because I absolutely love helping other people and I believe I would really be a benefit to the hospital I work at and the patients I encounter. I really look forward to making a huge impact on my patients'
Through the third-riding time I have accumulated, I have seen a few gruesome encounters such as motor vehicle accidents as well as many different traumas. I have been lucky to be able to go through the health occupations curriculum at my high school and attain my Certified Nursing Assistant certification as well as my healthcare provider, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. I also received clinical experience through Lawrence General Hospital in the Emergency Center, during my time there my love for medicine grew tremendously and fed my ambition not only for high school, but for college and my future as well. I find comfort in helping anyone and creating a better situation for them if someone is going through a hard time, as I did when I was younger with my great grandparents. Knowing how much a medical hardship can affect someone makes me want to help that much more. Even though I could not cure my grandparents old age and illnesses, I did help them and made sure they knew they could count on me to make them feel just a little bit
While working several shifts in an Alzheimer's unit in a local care facility, I had the opportunity to meet a registered nurse named Sarah. Sarah had plenty of insight on what it is like being a nurse in a facility. During my observations of her duties I witnessed many things that opened my eyes as to what I want in my future career choices.

I would like to become a Health Information Technician, properly known as Registered Health Information Technician or RHIT. This position appeals to me for a couple reasons. One is because I like the medical field but do not have the heart to be a doctor (it seems too sad to me). I also like technology and this combines two of my interests into one job so therefore I believe it is a good career option for me.
Growing up I could remember my mother who is a nurse always loving and helping others. Thanks to her passion for helping and caring for others, I developed the heart to want care for others especially those who aren’t able to care for themselves. Being the eldest child I would always help my mother take care of my sibling. You could say I was their second mom. I love my mother dearly and she will forever be my role model in life. From watching her at work, home and around the community she would always help others even when she too was sick. She would help treat patients who were critically ill with bodily fluid, vomit and help treat wounds. My mother like others women is a single mother, she’s strong, fearless, hardworking and caring all in one. These qualities helped her work as a nurse. My mother’s home country Nigeria which is in West Africa was affected by the Ebola breakout. These factors solidified my career choice of becoming a nurse. The nurses were the ones who give care and assistance to patients who were affected by a virus that they didn’t even know much about. However, they still stayed strong and risked their lives to assist people whose families and community abandon
