According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, the definition of a store is “a building or room where goods and services are sold.” There is always that one store people love to go to and become loyal customers. But what if there is an exact same version of that store online and it may also be better? That is the magic of online stores. These stores can do the same things traditional stores can do but only better and it’s only a matter of time where the popularity of online shopping will outgrow the popularity of traditional shopping. This competition can be between store versus store, and website vs website. The competition can also happen between the traditional store and the online store. There was a report by ComScore during the 2013 Holiday shopping season saying that there was a 10 percent increase of Online Spending compared to last year’s Holiday shopping season. (Walker, 2014). The results of that report by ComScore can mean a few things. It can mean that customers find online shopping convenient and that they don’t have to travel to different stores just to obtain that item. Or this means the customers find this easier than just standing in a long line dealing with fellow customers, staff, and the cash register. However, even with the ever so growing popularity of online shopping, there are still plenty of people who don’t think that Online Shopping is the best choice and they still believe that Traditional Shopping is the best way to go. According to PwC’s annual consumer survey, there is a result of 40 percent of customers that buy inside a shop once per week. Also from that survey, only 27 percent of customers who shop once per week online (Brooks, 2015). It is a physical space where a business is conducted through the selling and displaying of products. The products being sold at a traditional store will always vary. The products sold can be food, clothes, furniture, books, pets, etc. depending on the brand or business of the company. There are many possibilities for the location of traditional stores. They can be in a mall, store front, a small room in a house, or a place along the highway. A traditional store can be anywhere, as long as the rent is paid for. You don’t have to start from scratch when you want to start a business and open a store though. You can either buy a business, rights to a franchise, important tools of technology or methods, or inherit the company or be hired as a manager (Mariotti & Glackin, 2013). If you don’t really want to start from scratch, you could either purchase a business, or acquire rights to franchise. To simplify purchasing a business, it is when your capital surpasses the selling price of a company that is either just starting out as well, not getting enough income, or established. A franchise is a business that will market a certain product or a type of service that a franchisor has developed and it should be marketed in a way that the franchisor has specified (Mariotti & Glackin, 2013).
