Although people may argue that a person can take care of the debt faster the person may not have the ability to do so. Some colleges are charging the tuition price of a big name college when they are not as well known and the degree may not go very far. Recently students are (taking on more debt) than they can pay and end up not being able to pay them off (Hacker and Schlesinger). When students graduate college most of them will have debt that they have to pay and many of them can’t pay it off. In highschool people and teachers stress that students need to go to college and it can (cause a sense of panic) in the highschool students (crawford).
All of these aspects sound good for the high school level, however, they can be the polar opposites of how students are treated in college. Students not being used to freedom, for example, causes them to not be prepared for the over amount of freedom given during college. This leads kids to put off homework, not go to class, and other bad habits because they are not used to managing their time. These habits can lead to an unsuccessful college carrer, eventually leading to dropping out. A second example at the meso level is students getting caught up in partying on the weekends or even during the week.
When I read the essay of Caroline Bird, "College is a Waste of Time and Money," I feel that she argues many students do not want to go to college because they do not want to be or they do not want to learn. Besides that, she interviews many people from college student, professors and administrators. First off all, she shows that nine million college students are not in school. She gives two reasons to prove it such as they attend college because they think that the school is a pleasant place and they do not to work to get parents or taxpayers to support them. For these reason, they attend college unhappily and reluctantly.
Noah and his mother ignored Jude whenever they were all out doing something, because of this lack of being able to talk to her mother while she was still alive, it just pushed Jude further and further away from her family. Due to feeling like her parents are pushing her away, Jude becomes more and more contained to herself, if they would just talk to her, or make her feel as though she could talk to them, maybe she would not feel so
Some people believe that they should not pay college athletes while others are protesting against it. Due to the fact that college athletes will not be focused on school, therefore, causing them to not be well educated as well as not having academic skills, college athletes should not be paid. College students will gradually concentrate more on athletics leading them to be discouraged from academics. Their futures will be impacted in a major way if they concentrate more on athletics than academics. For instance, most college athletes “will never go professional and will seek gainful employment beyond their brief athletic career at college” (Bob 23).
Many mothers find it hard to graduate high school with a new baby, much less finish college which will later lead to financial issues(Campbell 10). Maurice’s mother was often so busy taking care of her children that she was never able to further her education and make a better
But sometimes her family is unable to take her to the services due to no transportation being available as well as the location being further away from home. This is a barrier for Ruth as it prevents her from receiving sufficient care which could affect Ruth’s wellbeing. The GP minimises this barrier by having a system that ensures Ruth attends her check-ups and appointments. The GP allows my client’s mum to arrange times where they are able to visit GP at the time available, so Ruth’s mum can have plenty of time to get to the GP. The NHS also
This would put teachers in a hard situation and would not give them time to be with their family. This is another reason year-round school should not move to Florida. Lastly, a year-round school schedule may offer more breaks, but there is no proof that it helped students academically. Therefore the year-round school schedule does not truly benefit students or teachers. Also the more frequent breaks may pose the problem of students forgetting information after every break, which would cause for more review in class which does not help students learn new things.
Why Should People Attend College… Many people attend college but don’t understand all that comes with the benefit of attending college. There are people that don’t get the opportunity to attend college because of many reasons like having kids early, financial issues, and some just believe they are not smart enough to really make it. Though I don’t find the last excuse a valid enough reason to not attend school, a lot of people use that excuse to justify why they are not going to school. But let me just tell you, you are truly missing out on a great college experience and all the good things college must offer due to you not attending. The many good things college must offer is it broadens your horizon, helps you network, better opportunities,
Furthermore, students attending a four-year institution are basically used as a bank for that university. College is very expensive, students must pay for tuition, books, parking passes, and food. Four-year colleges may look good when a degree is obtained, but some graduates are unable to find employment after all the hard work done over four long years. This is why students are committing suicide and being mentally and physically drained which cause them to drop out or even give up (Woods). By going to a two-year college, a student will have a shorter amount of time than a four-year college to start a career or get a head start in a
In case the above forms of payments aren’t enough for all college athletes, there are other options if athletes show the need for more money. The NCAA is willing to provide extra money to “Pell Grant recipients” for personal items and travel home in case of emergencies (Gerdy 8). The opinion that college athletes shouldn’t be paid exists all around the country. College athletes shouldn’t be paid because they aren’t employees, the sports programs don’t have extra money, and the athletes are already receiving compensation for their work on the team. Although there are split opinions among the college students who are not athletes, many high school students who don’t plan on being athletes in college are against paying college athletes.
Athletes often can’t.” This shows that students who come from poor families can’t work after classes even if they wanted to because of practice. The article, “Should College Athletes Be Paid to Play?” also states that, “Some Division I athletes came from
If students want to go on summer programs or summer camps they cannot go that means that the programs and camps will suffer. Teachers and students cannot go on vacations like Disney World, water parks, and theme parks. Parents may struggle to schedule family vacations. Students will be upset if not gone on family vacations. Parents
The athletes don’t know how to handle all this money; so by having college athletes it helps them with handling their money. It teaches them money management at a young age. Others may say that college athletes shouldn’t get paid because they are given scholarships. The only problem is that according The New York Time they say that “ The average athletic scholarship is less than a $11,000 a year”(Zissou). This is not for kids who are going to community college or anything.
Many students are unaware how to budget. Some, even find it troublesome to budget because they hate having to decrease on the things they enjoy. A majority of people feed their wants and their desires rather than evaluating their needs. For instance, a high issue in college students is that they enjoy going out to parties spending loads of money on drinks rather than saving that money to pay for their housing or school supplies. That’s why financial literacy is important because it teaches students to sit down and evaluate where their money should exactly go.
